The squeaky wheel gets the appliances
Just a day after Tricia and I had our little whine-o-rama, the progress is encouraging. We got the appliances (almost) installed, the much anticipated master bath faucet, the kitchen faucet, miscellaneous plumbing finished and the yard graded for the driveway.
While I'm not expecting to be in by the end of the month, at least I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I just hope somebody turns off that light before they run up the electricity bill.

Stand Still (or I'll shoot!)
That should read: Get moving or I'll shoot!
There hasn't been much progress for a week. The alarm got installed, but the really pressing things are still waiting for some unknown reason. Pouring the driveway and sidewalks, carpet and wood flooring, appliances, finished plumbing, these are just a few of the myriad things that need to be accomplished before me move in.
Tricia and I stood in the house today and had a good, old-fashioned bitch-fest. It was cathartic, and more than a little funny. Our shrill, annoyed voices echoed throughout the non-carpeted, not nearly finished house.
What's more, poor Tricia has had to deal with the intellectual equivalent of tree fungus while trying to order our bathroom fixtures. Here's an excerpt from an actual conversation:
Tricia: Have you faxed me the quote yet?
Fungus: I tried, but our email is down.
Tricia: What's that got to do with your fax machine?
Fungus: I think they are connected or something
Tricia: (muffled scream)
That's the truth, boys and girls.
We really need to move in by the end of the month. Guess what? Ain't gonna happen.
