Nothingness

I've had a nagging feeling for quite some time that the world is inherently devoid of meaning - that is to say that there is no reason or purpose to which we can map any event or happening. It goes beyond randomness, or chaos theory, right to the heart of nihilism. It could be argued that nihilism is the philosophy of the lazy. If there's nothing to explain, why attempt to explain it? But nihilism has some validity, which is neatly summed up by the following:

"The conserved constants of the physical universe sum precisely to zero. This means that everything that seems to exist is a just a symmetrical deviation from nothingness. Therefore, nothing actually exists."

The bad news is that all that praying that you're doing is a product of wishful thinking. The good news is, you can go ahead and have that extra piece of pie.
