Savior
Did the disciples sigh
When jesus walked on the water
Or was it expected that he would become
The unlit beacon of dashed hopes
Morosely eschewing
The laws of modern physics
I wonder about his gait
Was he striding confidently
Head up eyes straight ahead
Or did he meander in long looping arcs
Filled with self doubt and fear
I think that he was more surprised
Than anyone
All at once
To look down and to see
The sea as blue as dreams
Splashing under his feet
And I think that he was
In that moment
Very sad and very alone
Thinking to himself
Nothing will ever be the same again
