Lordy, Lordy, etc.
Welp, I'm gonna be 40 in a few days. See that colorful box on the right of the page? For my birthday, would you consider throwing a couple of bucks to the Make-A-Wish foundation? I'd be mighty grateful and I'm sure they would, too.
Thank you kindly.

What a long, strange trip it's been
After months of struggling, I've gotten the posting piece of this page fixed. And there was much rejoicing.

I've been using Wikipedia way too much lately. I came across a great wiki page for Mitch Hedberg. That guys death made me sad, man. Sadder than most. The dude was damn funny and his timing was right on. He had this cool 70's show vibe with the brushback and dark glasses. Most comedians suck and the fact that this guy was so original and funny bums me out. Overdose, of course. It's always an overdose for the creative geniuses.
Hope you're someplace good now, Mitch.

House Fun
So we got the final contract price for the house from the builder and might I say "HOLY CRAP!" How this midsized project turned into the next Sears Tower is beyond me. These things gather steam until all steam has been exhaused and you're left picking up tattered pieces of
'We didn't ask for's and 'that's probably not necessary's and on and on.
So we got the price to our lender, who after asking several times if we were joking, finally got to work on how we were going to pay for it. As we left I looked back toward the building and saw green and orange smoke coming out of her office, so I'm at least a little encouraged.
Before any of this can move forward though we have the matter of some trees that need to be dealt with (read: ripped up and carried away). Since sitting in front of a keyboard and routing bits around a network are really the extent of my tree-pulling expertise, I figured I'd better enlist some help. I called the good old folks over and J&W Tree service to do the dirty work.
Turns out though that they are big gurly men, and won't touch the tree since it happens to have a large live power line running right through it. Even after repeated attempts to convince them they probably wouldn't die, and that even if they did life ain't so great anyway if your job is pulling trees out of the ground, they demurred.
So I sit and wait for the power company to come and do something, anything about the lines other that park the truck, get out, say, "Yep, gotta move those lines. (Insert name here) needs to come out and see what it's going to take to do this. You free for several months to meet us out here anytime?" But of course, I say. I have no life.
Here's a pic of the offending sapling
